Offshore Wind Projects

Offshore wind energy plays a central role in the energy transition. Favorable wind conditions at sea enable continuous renewable power generation, supporting grid stability and strengthening security of supply. The electricity is transmitted via powerful subsea cables to shore, where it can be used cleanly and efficiently.

Arcadis Ost 1

In 2018, following several years of development, WV Energie AG won the tender for the Arcadis Ost 1 offshore wind farm under the German Offshore Wind Energy Act. The permitting process, conducted under the Federal Immission Control Act, was finalized successfully in March 2021 — clearing the path for the construction of 27 wind turbines northeast of Rügen. Since late 2023, the project has been fully operational and is now supplying green power to around 290,000 households.

Key Facts around the offshore wind farm Arcadis Ost 1:

  • 257 MW installed capacity
  • 27 wind energy turbines type Vestas V174-9.5MW
  • Foundation: Monopile
  • COD: 2023
  • Operator: Parkwind Ost GmbH
