Development Projects
WV Energie AG is advancing data center development across Germany – from high-capacity hyperscale infrastructures at key internet junctions to modern colocation and AI-focused facilities. In 2024, we reached a significant milestone: our subsidiary “VIL DC GmbH” secured the building permit for the first data center in Bad Vilbel. Following years of dedicated development work with the city and local utilities, we are now set to realize the first data center in Massenheim.

Co-Developing Data Centers – Our Offering
Our data center development strategy spans locations close to major internet exchange points as well as regional sites — always anchored by a robust and scalable grid connection. Through close collaboration with landowners, local governments, authorities and other stakeholders, we deliver data centers designed for the performance needs of today and tomorrow.
We welcome co-development opportunities and actively support our partners with the following services:
Site acquisition: We take a strategic approach to identifying land that is ideally suited for data center construction. This includes locations near key internet exchange points — for example in Frankfurt, Berlin or Germany’s Ruhr area. Additionally, remote sites are increasingly attractive for AI-driven facilities, provided that a strong grid connection can be secured.
Project Development: In close cooperation with experienced partners, we manage the entire development process — from securing the grid connection and creating the conceptual design all the way to obtaining the building permit.
Permitting: Drawing on our experience in securing approvals for data center developments, we actively manage all permitting steps and work closely with the responsible authorities to ensure a smooth process.
Investment: We invest in data center projects at early stages of development. Together with specialized financing partners, we structure tailored funding strategies — typically leading to the sale of the fully permitted project to a long-term investor.
